These one-on-one sessions will help you better understand your unique body/mind dynamics as well as create greater clarity of the needs of your body, mind and spirit. Every session with me starts with exploring how you live, feel and interact within your body, mind and environment. We take a look at the whole picture, as I listen to your concerns and tailor specific practices to suit your needs. Some of the tools I use are: spiritual counseling, conscious and mindful breathing, therapeutic physical postures and exercises, meditative practices, diet, lifestyle, Ayurvedic recommendations and more. Instead of viewing illness as strictly a physical body phenomenon, Yoga recognizes the human body as a holistic entity made up of various dimensions. These dimensions are called koshas, which are different layers of our human existence. These include the physical body, the energetic/breath body, the mental-emotional body, the wisdom body, and the bliss body. When dis(ease) becomes present on one of these levels, other levels are affected also. Yoga Therapy is such a powerful tool for bringing balance, health and a zest for life because it empowers people in the healing process. Yoga takes an inside-out approach to wellbeing, and rather than being a passive recipient of treatment, the student is actively engaged in the path of their own recovery. The role of the Therapist is to guide the student, providing them with the right tools, and teaching the appropriate ways to implement them. Once this is done, it is then the role of the student to practice it diligently, observe changes, and notify the Therapist for any changes. Thus the healing comes from within the student, rather than from the outside. This powerful system has helped many students who have sought yoga as the solution to their ailments.
